These are the ten cheapest streets in Budapest to buy apartments

Although if you want to buy an apartment in Budapest, you usually have to pay a great amount of money for it, there are some districts where apartments are more affordable. Have a look at the ten cheapest streets in Budapest!

These are the cheapest districts of Budapest

According to OTP Mortgage bank’s Residential Property Value Map, last year, the average price of apartments in Budapest was HUF 812,000 (EUR 2047) per square meter. In 14 districts, a lower price level could be measured. Portfolio made a research in which they concluded that the cheapest districts are districts XXI, XX and XIX. District XXIII is not included in the figure due to a lack of data, but based on the experience of previous years, this would presumably still be the cheapest district. In most of these districts, the average price per square meter does not even reach HUF 600,000 (EUR 1513).

The ten cheapest streets

Three of the ten cheapest streets are located in the XXIII district, two each in the X and XVII districts, and one each in the III, IX and XXI districts. While the average price per square meter in Budapest was well over HUF 700,000 (EUR 1765,38) already in 2021, apartments on the tenth cheapest street cost HUF 357,000 (EUR 900,34). In the three cheapest streets, however, the price per square meter did not even reach HUF 300,000 (EUR 756,59).

Here are the cheapest streets of Budapest:

• 1. As for the cheapest street of Budapest, the infamous Hős Street wins with HUF 237,000 (EUR 597,71) per square meter.
• 2. After that, the second cheapest is Táncsics Mihály Street in the XXIII district. The long distance from the city center and the poor condition of the apartments is responsible for the second place on the list.
• 3-4. The third and fourth places are taken by Tárna Street in district X and Füleki Street in district IX. They are probably not very popular due to the location. These apartments are located in the immediate vicinity of industrial areas and next to railway tracks.
• 5. The fifth-ranked Károli Gáspár utca in the XXI district starts from the central entrance of Csepel Művek. However, it is outside the factory area, where, in addition to various public institutions, you can find four-story panel houses, as well as single-story and single-story houses.
• 6. Although the III district is also on the list of the most expensive streets, Máramaros Street is the sixth cheapest street. In this case, the neighborhood does not justify the low prices.
• 7. Bátor Street, in seventh place, is a narrow street located on the outside of the XVII district, where the difficult accessibility and proximity to the airport may also play a role in the low prices.
• 8-9. The low prices of the two subsequent public areas in the XXIII district are on the list due to the long distance from the city center and the possible poor condition of the respective properties.
• 10. And for Tisza István Street in the XVII District, which is ranked tenth, the noise pollution from the airport must play a key factor in its cheap apartment prices.
